David Burch – Senior Pastor
David was appointed to serve Vision of Hope in 2006, enabling him to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a part of a unique new church start. He is a graduate of James Madison University and Wesley Theological Seminary. His three-plus decades of ministry have included United Methodist congregations at Stanley, Elkton, Mt. Jackson, Dayton, Lynchburg, Verona and Richmond, Virginia—churches ranging in size from 23 to 1,900 members. He has received the honor of being named 1991 Rural Pastor of the Year and was the recipient of the 2014 Harry Denman Evangelism Award presented by the Virginia Conference.
David’s wife Valerie is a retired teacher, formerly serving in Augusta County. They reside in Mt. Sidney and they are the parents of two adult children, Allison and Tyler. A native of rural Southside Virginia, David’s passion is to make God’s Word come alive for 21st century people through his unique, down-home, storytelling style of preaching.
Ella Flory – Office Manager
Ella is the go-to person at Vision of Hope for all things administrative. She has served our church family since 2007. She and her husband Gary and their children Renee and Ava reside in Mt. Crawford.
Joe Ruoto – Director of Contemporary Worship
Joe is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. After graduation he moved to Nashville and worked for country artists Steve Wariner and Wynonna Judd before relocating to Virginia. As a guitarist and vocalist, he leads our Praise Team in providing dynamic worship for our 10:30 am Decaffeinated Contemporary Service. He and his children, Cole, Canyon and Corryn live in Crozet.
Cindy Grimes – Director of Traditional Worship
Cindy is the energizing force behind our newly-created Early Bird Choir–a 15 voice ensemble which provides musical leadership for our 9 am Relaxed Traditional Service. A graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College and lifelong educator, Cindy taught at Keister Elementary School for 15 years and has been the director of the Massanutten Presbyterian Church Preschool for the past 17 years.. She has directed many local church choirs as well as providing piano and organ accompaniment. She resides in Penn Laird.
Jimmy Overton – Director of Gospel Music
Jimmy is a renowned singer/musician, performing weekly at regional venues, and is the son and grandson of Salvation Army preachers. His roots run deep in the gospel music tradition. He leads our Wednesday evening services, and provides music for our Sunday morning services as well. He and his wife Sue reside in Waynesboro.
Clifton Pritchett – Organist
Clif provides inspiring organ accompaniment for our Relaxed Traditional Service. Now retired, he was the former dean of Bridgewater College’s music department and choral director at Harrisonburg Baptist Church. He resides in Penn Laird.
Anne Kendrick – Director of Bible Zone for Kids
Anne oversees our Sunday morning faith-nurturing program for children. She is a very beloved and creative former kindergarten teacher who is able to make Bible stories come alive for her young participants!
Bruce Harvey – Treasurer
Bruce is the bean-counter at Vision of Hope, providing dedicated oversight of our financial activities. He is a graduate of Bridgewater College, and is senior accountant with the firm Young, Nicholas, Branner & Phillips, LLC. He, his wife Lisa and daughter Alexis are residents of Mt. Clinton.
Rebecca Cox – Nursery Supervisor
Rebecca has been a loving care-giver for our little ones at Vision of Hope since 2003. She is a teacher at Elkton Elementary School. She and her husband Steve are parents of Matthew, Avery and Benjamin. They live at Lacey Springs.
Bobbi Carper – Custodian
Bobbi ensures that the facilities of Vision of Hope are always clean and welcoming. She and her family are residents of Keezletown.
